Les Rochers-de-Naye
Above Montreux, the Rochers-de-Naye belvedere offers a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Marmot’s Paradise, the Alpine Garden and Mongolian yurts deserve a discovery on the summit.
The cogwheel train connects Montreux to Rochers-de-Naye (2,042 m) in 55 minutes, passing from scenery full of palm trees to the rare Edelweiss. The ascent on the steep slope is impressive and the itinerary on the mountain crest audacious.
There is something mystical about the panorama offered by Rochers-de-Naye, an impression reinforced by the yurts, which can be rented for a night: the steeply inclined slopes, the chains of summits rising successively in the mist, the bottom of verdant valleys or the iridescent blue of Lake Geneva.
A few steps away from the yurts, the animal park, Marmots’ Paradise, shows marmot breeds from all around the world. The animals can be observed in their natural habitat.
The Alpine garden, “La Rambertia”, nestles on a sheer slope between two rocky outcrops. The harshness of the mountain climate presents a permanent challenge to the survival of this collection of 1,000 Alpine plants.
